MSN and Hotmail Implement "The Junk Mail Reporting Partner Program"
The Junk Mail Reporting Partner Program (JMRPP), is a free program tailored to help large senders remove unwanted recipients from their mailings. The goal of this program is clean-up distribution lists so that users receive wanted e-mail and senders aren’t negatively affected by complaints.
Senders that sign up for this program will receive any mail that is reported as junk mail. We highly recommend that senders use this information to change their mailing practices to reduce junk mail reports and/or remove the recipient from their mailing list. Failure to reduce junk mail reporting incidents will result in a sender's removal form the program and could also impact a sender’s deliverability.
Here are the details of the program. http://postmaster.msn.com/Services.aspx#JMRPP

What is a WhiteList and How Do I Get White-Listed With AOL and Yahoo?
A white list or whitelist is a list of accepted items or persons in a set. It is the opposite of a blacklist.
A whitelist or white list is a list of e-mail addresses or domain names from which an e-mail blocking program will allow messages to be received. E-mail blocking programs, also called a spam filters, are intended to prevent most unsolicited e-mail messages (spam) from appearing in subscriber inboxes. But these programs are not perfect. Cleverly crafted spam gets through, and a few desired messages are blocked. Most Internet users can tolerate the occasional unsolicited e-mail advertisement that a spam filter misses, but are concerned by the thought that an important message might not be received. The whitelist option is a solution to the latter problem. The list can be gradually compiled over a period of time, and can be edited whenever the user wants.
Some spam filters delete suspected junk e-mail messages straightaway, but others allow the user to place them in a quarantined inbox. Periodically, the quarantined messages are observed to see if any of them are legitimate messages. This option is used by some Web-based e-mail clients in place of, or in addition to, a whitelist.
Here is what you need to do to get White-Listed on Yahoo:
1. Go to the Delivery Problems page in Yahoo! Mail's online support. Fill out the form and submit it.
2. In about 15 minutes or so, you will receive a detailed questionnaire that asks you about your sending policies, procedures, etc. It could reveal some gaps in your email program. Fill out the form as best you can and submit it.
3. You might or might not hear back from Yahoo! about whether you have been white listed. Open a free account and send a test message to it from the address you normally use to send bulk email. Did the test go to your bulk folder? If so, use the form on the Delivery Problems page again to ask about your white listing status.
And for AOL:
Like Yahoo!, AOL has a system wide Whitelist. It doesn't guarantee that Whitelisted senders will always get their messages delivered to the inbox instead of the junk folder. But, white listed senders who meet stricter volume and complain criteria might qualify for AOL's enhanced white list. Email messages from those senders show up with hotlinks and images enabled instead of blocked.
1. Read the Conditions to Bulk Sender Status page first. Check the box indicating you accept AOL's guidelines, and press the Accept Guidelines button.
2. You will be taken to a form asking for contact information and the IP addresses you use to send bulk mail. Fill out the form and submit it. This will also set up a feedback loop that will send spam complaints to you for action.
Note: You can't apply for the enhanced white list. AOL adds only a small percentage of senders who meet limits on volume -- how many messages sent at one time to its servers -- and spam complaints in a rolling 30 -day period. You could be on it one day and off it the next. Keep monitoring volume and complaints, though.

What Is the Best Day to Send An Email Campaign?
There is no such thing as a universal best day to send an email campaign. The past thoughts were that Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday were the best days to market via email but that train of thought seems to be changing. In a study of email opens, Friday seems to be the biggest day for people to open an email that is sent to them. Sunday has the highest average click-through rate, or number of times someone clicked on a link in the email, followed by Friday. However, Sunday was a consistently low performer for open rates. Most Email Service Providers (ESP's) still believe that a mid week campaign is there best choice with approximately 96 percent of campaigns and 92 percent of email volume being sent Monday through Friday.
The higher relative volume of email on the weekend is due to the business-to-consumer focus of these campaigns. B2B organizations sending on the weekends may be rewarded for their unconventional choice of day to send, as their average click-through rates were 25 percent higher on the weekend.
When deciding when to send an email campaign, you must consider your competition in the inbox. During the summer months, email recipients are most likely spending the weekend outdoors away from their computers. In the winter, subscribers may spend more time indoors catching up on email and/or preparing for the week ahead.
There is no exact science when it comes to email marketing or a strategy to market your products or services on the web. All you can do is choose a reputable company that will try their best to make your email campaign as successful as it can be.
